WeSure co-designs and markets affordable and innovative insurance products to a billion WeChat users, drawing on InsurTech created from Tencent’s distribution and data capabilities. It has 30 million monthly active users, ranking it #1 among insurance WeChat Mini-Programs.

What We Do & How We Do It

WeSure co-designs and markets affordable and innovative insurance products ranging from medical, life, travel, auto to P&C to a billion WeChat users. Unlike most marketplaces, WeSure optimises for quality rather than range, by co-designing and putting only best-value products on its platform. On its WeChat Mini-Program platform, users can research, purchase, make claims and access insurance services at their fingertips. Users can complete an insurance purchase in 3 minutes; and 80% of insurance payout is made within 1 day of claim submission.

WeSure markets around 25 insurance products via its main entry point in WeChat Pay e-wallet, and bundles another 20 products as add-on services to Tencent e-wallet, mobile top-up, medical payment, subway e-ticket, etc. Beside selling insurance, WeSure creates ‘fun’ services such as WeFit, WeDrive, and WeTravel as ways to engage users early on to educate and encourage healthy living & safe driving, as prelude to insurance purchases.

WeSure chooses to work only with the top 15% insurance companies in China including PICC, Ping An, Taikang, etc., to co-design products and manage underwriting risk, drawing on its InsurTech capabilities developed by its 60 AI scientists – 15% of the 400-strong staff today are in WeSure’s AI department.
